A lovely analysis. I knew fairly early on that this was a novel focusing on addiction and questionable self-esteem, but it never occurred to me that this might have been a dyed in the wool cry for help, which, now you mention it, it seems to be. Upon my next read, I'll be thinking on this, and it will, no doubt, improve the depth of my enjoyment. For this, I thank you. Also, David, in Desperation, is a positive perspective on religion. Tak couldn't stand against David's God...though blindly did he worship, even in his anger. Lavender Jack...Swooping On Down.
